Unexpected Surgery

For the past year plus I was having pain in my right hand, mostly in the palm area. I would use ibuprofen to handle the pain as it would come and go. Then I'm not exactly sure when it happened but I now know a ganglion cyst started to form, see below. They are not cancerous or anything just ugly looking and get painful and can turn into other problems. After I had Peyton we decided to get it looked at, I mean I had met my deductible for the year! At my first appointment the Doc put a needle in it and drained it! I had just experienced child birth a couple weeks before this but man that hurt! And continued to hurt and be sensitive for the next couple days! They sent me home and said to massage it and hope it doesn't comeback! If so, next option would be surgery to remove it! Well it did come back and I was back in on a Monday with the surgery scheduled for Thursday! On October 17 I went in and had the same day surgery! Thank you mom for helping out with the kids and thank you Aaron for being my chauffeur!

Got to sport this beauty for a couple weeks! No getting it wet... Hello garbage sack method to take a shower, and not much lifting or mobility....hello I just had a baby!! I'll admit it was a bit rough for the first couple days with a couple breakdowns as I realized how little I could actually do and I'm an independent person and like to do things myself! I had to accept the help!
Aaron took over the night feeding! And I watched from bed.....
On October 30 I went and got the stitches out and in true Amy fashion almost passed out! From there I received a removable brace to wear the next 6 weeks!

So that is my unexpected surgery story! Stay away ganglion cyst and never come back!

Homecoming Parade

October 5, 2013
Aaron took the kids to the ISU Homecoming Parade. It is a very long parade, so Peyton and I joined them a bit late and left a bit early. The kids had lots of fun and got way to much candy!
Peyton showed some school spirit with this cute hat from Amanda and Chad!
