General Conference weekends are by far my favorite weekends of the year! I've started a few traditions at our home for this important weekend, they are "yummy food" traditions. Why Aaron is at Priesthood Session on Saturday night the kids and I make our Caramel Popcorn which is soooo good and sooo easy. Then on Sunday morning I try do something special but simple for breakfast, and this year I did Pumpkin muffins (from Pinterest) which were a hit! And they were 2 ingredients, that is what I call simple!! Pumpkin and a yellow cake mix are the 2 ingredients! And this Conference I added a new tradition, on Sunday at the start of the 10:00 session I gave the kids "Conference Bags." We all know how kids and conference go together....not the greatest. They get restless, wild, and everything else, and all we the parents want to do is WATCH so a lot of frustration can build up. The bags definitely helped. I went to Winco and got them their favorite candy from the bins, put together some church coloring pages, had a whiteboard and markers for Stockton, scrapbook paper and scissors for Abby, Capri Suns, apples, and other healthy and not so healthy snacks.......and I can't remember what else....it worked good especially for Abby. Stockton also enjoyed playing playdough.
It was such a great Conference. I love conference because it is a chance for me to be the player and get coached by great leaders of the church. I'm always uplifted, rejuvenated, and just filled with goodness.
Few highlights for me:
Ann Dibb: "I'm a Mormon. I know it. I live. I love it."
L. Tom Perry: "Becoming Goodly Parents"
Dallin H. Oaks: "Protecting, caring for world's children."
Henry B. Erying: "Where is the pavilion"
Linda K. Burton: "First observe, then serve"
President Monson's closing remarks "God Be With You Til We Meet Again"
General Conference is always JUST WHAT I NEEDED!

I agree- Conference is the best weekends of the year, but can also be the worst (with kids). Good idea on the "Conference Bags." I need to do something like that next time. My friend does bags too and she also puts up pictures of the prophet and apostles on their fireplace and the kids match them when they see their picture up on the TV screen.
If all else fails, lock the kids in dark closet and enjoy conference in peace! Just kidding... (maybe)
And your treats sound yummy. I love pumpkin stuff. Another variation for muffins is a spice cake mix with a can of pumpkin (you can also add chocolate chips if desired). Yum! I need to come spend conference at your house! Seriously, when are you guys EVER going to move to Seattle? :)
