Grandpa Moore's Funeral

April 1, 2013
While we were in St. George for Spring Break Aaron got a phone call from his mom that his Grandpa Moore had passed away. He had cancer and many health problems that led up to his death. Although it was very sad to see him go, we were grateful he wasn't suffering anymore. With his death made a very special Easter for our family to celebrate together. What a way to reflect upon the Atoning sacrifice and death of our Savior and The Resurrection through the death of Grandpa Moore. I know our kids felt the spirit and had understanding through all of this and what it all meant. Abby and Stockton both knew their Grandpa Great Moore very well, and especially Abby had a special and unique relationship with him. I'm so grateful for the mortuary worker who gathered all the children together before we closed the casket for the final time and explained to the kids in detail by using the glove method what was happening to their Grandpa. I'm also grateful for Aaron's opportunity to speak in church on Easter Sunday so he could express his love to his Grandpa and commemorate him.
The funeral was great, full of lots of laughs and tears. All the Great Grand kids sang I Am A Child Of God and it was amazing and Abby and Stockton sang their little hearts out for their Grandpa Great.
The cemetery was amazing as well, especially because Grandpa received all the military rights and it was so special and touching. Especially when they presented the flag to Grandma.
Here are a few pics I took at the cemetery.

We released Red and White balloons!

Life Legacy

Alfred J. Moore (Larry) Moore

Larry Moore
Feb. 6, 1934 – March 26, 2013
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth, and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

On March 26, 2013 Larry, our warrior aviator, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather serenely passed on the eagerly waiting arms of his parents, other loved ones, and the Savior. His passing was serene, but true to form, he battled cancer with the courage and dignity that epitomized his life.

Larry was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Tremonton, Utah to Earl Moore and Pearl Morgan. He married his eternal companion Frances Potts on the 31st of December 1953. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

Graduated from Morgan High School in 1952. While attending Morgan High School, he was named to the 1951 Utah All State Football team. We said that he was a warrior!

Larry loved the military and his country. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. As a crew chief on C124’s, C130’s, and C123’s, he traveled through all 50 states, and 41 different countries. He flew 147 combat missions in Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1972, but continued to serve as a maintenance scheduler at Hill AFB for the next 20 years. He completed his career of service by driving a school bus for the Bear River School District. He got a real chuckle when one of the school youngsters asked if “he had ever been in an airplane.” Larry loved to learn as well. He earned four bachelor degrees from Weber State University, with cum laude honors.

Larry loved to hunt and fish. The fish at East Canyon Reservoir are resting a lot easier today. He loved to attend the sporting events that his children and grandchildren were participating in.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and a special grandfather, A.J. Morgan. Survivors include his wife Frances, brothers Allen Long, Steven Moore, Sisters DeLoris Cayias, Revona Stone . Children – Jim (Cindy) Moore, Inkom, ID; Jill (Blake) Christensen, Tremonton; Janice (Steve) Seely, Tremonton; Jay (Marjorie) Moore, Kaysville; Jeff (Judi) Moore, St. George. 16 grandchildren, and 30 1/2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 N. 300 East, Tremonton, UT. Viewings will be held Sunday evening 6-8 pm at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, prior to the funeral service. Interment in the Tremonton Cemetery.

Dad we honor your life of courage, integrity, and service. You are the Christian Soldier. We love and will miss you!
