The True Story Behind the Rescue!!

This is the first time that I have ever blogged but it is very important that I tell my side of the story behind the mission we have now classified as "Hodges 911". If you are are not familiar with this mission please visit Ryan and Christy Hodges blog and read their post "My Near Death Experience". So here is the mission report from the eyes of Aaron Moore also known as "Bear".

So there I was laying in bed and it was a little after 11:10 pm and I had just finished watching a basketball game (Suns vs Spurs for any of you that care oh and the Spurs won the series). I was relaxing reading a good book ("Tax Free Retirement" which is a great book and would recommend it to anyone). Amy was fast asleep (which she lied and told Christy she was wide awake) when the phone rang and she woke up and grabbed the phone. My first thought when someone calls that late, is someone died or someone is in the hospital.... no matter what early morning and late night phone calls are never a good thing. By the tone of Amy's voice I knew something was wrong and Amy was quick to volunteer me to get out of the comfort of my own bed and stop reading my great book. Come to find out Christy was hearing noises in the house and was spooked and needed reassurance that no one was in the house. So I put on a sweatshirt and grabbed my glasses (my glasses are waaaay old and don't even work!) and I jumped into my "patrol vehicle."

I was only 3 minutes away from the scene also known as the Hodges residence. Upon my arrival I see a women peaking out her front window (who I thought was Christy but with my blurred vision I wasn't 100% sure) with a phone glued to her ear (she was still speaking with Amy). I had my trusty new golf club on my front seat, I hadn't gotten around to putting it in my golf bag. I was thinking do I bring my weapon of choice and risk breaking my NEW golf club??? Or use my 2 "guns" that I have ... a.k.a. my own personal strength..... which is what I chose, golf clubs are expensive these days.

While fighting the gusty wind, I preceded to enter the residence and Christy looked panicked! Good thing "Bear" arrived and answered the call in such a timely manner. The first thing I wanted to do was secure the scene, starting with the very creepy, dark, lots of hiding places basement! At the top of the stairs I found a trusty broom which Christy gave me permission to break if needed. AHHH GEEE Thanks Christy! All for the safety of the Hodges! Way to sacrifice that ONE broom! (sorry I wasn't willing to sacrifice my golf club)

As I was going down the stairs, pratically stumbling because as I mentioned before my glasses are worthless and I can't see worth a dang, I could hear Christy whispering and giving Amy a play by play over the phone. I'm in the basement and in the back of my mind I was thinking how I could scare the crap out of Christy so easily because she was on edge, but I was mature and continued my search in the basement. The basement was clear and secure and it didn't even smell like Ryan had just sat on the throne this time!

Back on the main level, I saw a little relief in Christy's eyes. (she was probably really worried more about that damn (in Australia that is not a bad word) broom than anything else!) After securing the main level and finding that the rest of the home was "bad guy" free, my "Hodges 911" mission was complete. Ryan would be home in less than a hour, so "Bear" received permission to return back to home base.
After getting home and back in my comfy, warm bed Amy decided she needed to talk for the next hour. And I just wanted to finish the chapter in my book. Amy kept saying, "do you think Christy is okay" "should I call her?" "Maybe I should go over there till Ryan gets home." Finally we all settled down and Amy shutup and went to sleep and I finished my chapter.

Now, at this time I would like to thank Ryan (who is a BBQ grillin' stud) for calling on me to protect his family. (the real story is he told Christy to call the Moore's for help and protection) He could of called on anyone, but he chose ME! That is deep man! I know you would do the same for my family!
And this is the story behind "Hodges 911."

SO funny!!! That's awesome that you wrote your side of the story! I can't believe though that you even thought about turning around and scarying me!? I would have really peed my pants then! I am glad you were mature enough during that time to refrain yourself! hehe! ;)

Thanks again guys!!

Bear, this is "Slim Jim" reporting in (Ryan). Thanks for saving the lives of not only my wife and children, but the throne room too. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am that you didn't break our broom. That broom goes back generations... I talked to a big scary dude yesterday out on the street that admitted that he broke into our home, but he was so scared of you, he wet himself hiding and jumped out the window to escape. I'm glad you chose the no deodorant approach. Good thinking!

You da man
